In March 2024, I sold off every bit of crypto I had and bought a Canon R8. That choice didn’t come easy. Family tension, money arguments, and my own doubt made it feel reckless, but I knew showing up with an iPhone wasn’t enough.
Piece by piece — lenses, lights, mics, rigs — I built a $4,200 foundation for Work By Davey. Not perfection. Not every tool I wanted. Just enough. Enough to start. Enough to walk into a room and know I could deliver.
The lesson? You don’t need the full setup to move forward. You just need enough to begin — because once you’re in the water, you’ll figure out how to swim.
